There are many levels of damage that can occur to balconies on your building. That means the scope and complexity of this service varies widely from one project to another. If the concrete has become spalled (absorbed moisture and is flaking or breaking off in larger chips), the repair procedure may simply involve removing the damaged concrete, detailing the edges of the area being repaired, and placing an appropriate patch material.

Pointing

Pointing brick is the process of adding mortar to joints between bricks during installation. As mortar is the weakest part of a masonry assembly, it deteriorates to the point of requiring replacement over time. Tuckpointing or repointing, is the process of removing this previously installed mortar and replacing it.

While a skilled do-it-yourselfer could probably accomplish the work needed on a tuckpointing project, there is more to it than merely putting mortar in cracked mortar joints. This is a task best left to professionals.
